This was the statement that sparked the “Long Live the Middle of Nowhere Vol. 1” project. It was after one of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan’s stellar local shows. Frustrated by an amazing music experience coupled with the artistic isolation of being a band on the prairies, a group of musicians and artists from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan  pooled their resources to produce a sampler that would showcase the musical landscape of bands and artists from and out of Moose Jaw.

While the music scene in Moose Jaw is large enough to produce great acts, we do not have genre-specific scenes. Bands that wouldn’t be caught dead playing with each other in Toronto share stages here on a regular basis.

This 20-track sampler showcases ten bands or artists of a wide range including punk, folk, rap and metal. Artists include Megan Nash, recently featured in Exclaim magazine, Johnny 2 Fingers and the Deformities whose newest album made the top ten list for SaskMusic’s Saskatchewan Album of 2015 and Northern Fallout who were named best homegrown band of 2015 by 104.9 The Wolf. There is something for everybody on this sampler.

The sampler is available in the form of a free download card in cases of Paddock Wood beer from March 1 to July 1. It is currently available on Apple Music,  Spotify, iTunes, Google Play and virtually everywhere you purchase downloadable music. You can listen to the full sampler here.
